Meet The Tutors

I am Krystal Conway-Cunningham, Mrs. C2. I am a native of Birmingham, Alabama, but currently reside in Frankfort, Kentucky with my wife and two fur babies. I teach high school Mathematics, Science, and Leadership Dynamics at a local high school. In my three years of teaching high school, my students have had a 98% pass rate from all of my classes. I love inspiring my students to better versions of themselves. In my class, students learn academic and leadership skills as well as self-care techniques. I have an Associate degree in Liberal Studies, a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, a minor in Mathematics, and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Studies, all from Kentucky State University. I also have a Master of Arts degree in Teaching with specializations in 5-9 Math, 8-12 Math, 8-12 Chemistry, and Gifted and Talented Education from Morehead State University. 

My name is Tyson Renard Allison. I am a native of Kinston, North Carolina. I currently  live in Garner, North Carolina with my wife of 33 years, Joycelyn. Together we have three adult children- two of them are in education in New York and Massachusetts and the third is in California state politics. I am a business owner in financial education and have worked as an engineer, a technical salesperson and a principal of a K-12 school. I have  also worked as a Chemistry, Physics and Middle School Mathematics teacher. My goal is to help students to be comfortable with numbers. I have a bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University. 

I am Deyshawn Clarke-Wells. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and I graduated from the University of Albany with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Education. Soon after undergrad, I completed my Masters degree in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education. Now, I teach Middle School Math and serve as an Instructional Leader in Brownsville and this is my 3rd year. In 2019, my students scored highest in the network on their instructional assessment before the NYS State Exam. I am sure that I help your scholar grasp concepts and spark a desire and eagerness to learn again. 

My name is Dr. Ashely Mitchell and I’m so excited to join the MB Tutoring Staff! I began my education career in 2010 as an K-8 After-school Tutor at Hyde Park Neighborhood School, while I attended the University of Chicago. After graduating from UChicago, I continued tutoring students in grades K-8, while I earned my master’s in secondary teaching from University of Southern California. 

I began teaching 9th  Grade World History at the University of Chicago Charter School where I revamped the entire world history curriculum and also served as Humanities Department Co-Chair. In 2016, I moved to Brooklyn Lab Charter School and Bushwick Ascend Middle School, respectively. In addition to teaching English at Bushwick Ascend, I also served as 8th grade Team Leader and Mentor Teacher, while I earned my doctorate in K-12 Educational Leadership & Policy from Vanderbilt University. 

Upon earning my doctoral degree in 2019, I transitioned into the current position as Director of Curriculum & Instruction at Forte Prep Academy. In this role, I coach teachers in several academic departments (Writing, Science, Social Studies, ENL, and Digital Literacy), serve as testing coordinator, curriculum writer/specialist, data analyst, and as a core member of the School Leadership Team. 

I look forward to bringing my passion and skills set to promote high quality tutoring experiences for students and families and joy in learning! 

I am Victoria Fuller and I am a Special Education teacher from Birmingham, Alabama. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary/Collaborative Education from Birmingham-Southern College. I obtained my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama and now I am pursing an Educational Specialist Degree (EdS). I am confident that my education, passion, personality and engaging tutoring sessions will help your scholar achieve his or her academic goals! Throughout my career, I have demonstrated the unique ability to reach and teach scholars that were labeled the most difficult. As a result, my experience has taught me that James Corner was correct. He said, ” No significant learning can occur without a significant relationship” and I promise I will give my best to build both a significant relationship and to make significant improvements towards meeting the goals of your scholar. 

My name is Pratyush Behera and I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Computer Engineering. Since my childhood, I’ve held a special interest in Mathematics. As a result, I’ve professionally tutored students in math concepts ranging from kindergarten to college level. I enjoy seeing my students conquer their fears of math and eliminate it as an obstacle in their academic journey. I am excited to work with MB Tutoring scholars that need assistance in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus and SAT/ACT Math.   

 

My name is Cynthia Ramos. I am a proud Texas native and I live just outside Corpus Christi. I graduated from Texas A&M- Corpus Christi and I received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. After that, I continued my educational matriculation at Prairie View A&M University where I received my teacher certification. I believe in motivating students by acknowledging small victories and setting a good example. With fourteen years of teaching experience, I have found many ways to make math easier and help students become more confident in themselves. I am glad to join the MB Tutoring team and to continue providing high quality, effective and enjoyable math tutoring sessions to students across the United States. 

Dr. April McCray has been an Associate Professor of English at Florida A & M University for the past ten years. She received her  doctorate in Literature from The Florida State University in 2011. Dr. McCray is a life-long teacher and is honored to be a part of the MB Tutoring family. 

I am Tyler Hawkins, Dean Hawkins. I am a native of Brooklyn, New York, but I currently reside in East Orange, New Jersey. I teach elementary school mathematics, knowledge (science and history), informational narrative and social emotional learning at Excellence Boys Charter School in Brooklyn, N.Y. In my five years of teaching elementary school, my scholars have been in the top 3 percentile for Uncommon Schools Region.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Service and I concluded my Master of Arts degree in K-6 Teaching from Hunter College. I can’t wait to watch your scholar reach their goals through private tutoring.

 

My name is Makaela Simmons. I was born and raised in New York City. I graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in Childhood/Special Education. Right after, I completed my Master’s degree from Brooklyn College. I am now a proud Dean of Students and Families at Leadership Prep Ocean Hill Elementary School. I previously taught fourth grade while also being an instructional leader. As a child, I always aspired to influence the youth and teach them to see value in getting a quality education. I am so excited to be apart of MB Tutoring where I can professionally build confidence of students while boosting their academic success in school. 

 

 

Ms. Alexandre is a Haitian-American educator, life coach, author, and small business owner. She has her New York State Professional Teaching Certification for grades 7 – 12 in English Literature. Ms. Alexandre has a Bachelor’s in English from New York University and her Master’s in Adolescent English Education from Fordham University. She has a total of 10 years of experience teaching reading and writing to NYC students in both General Education and Special Education settings. Valentina has been a Grade Team Leader and a Special Education Coordinator ensuring Sped services and teacher reporting toward student IEP Goals were properly rendered. 

When she isn’t teaching, Ms. Alexandre is a published poet and author, owns and runs her own international travel company for people of color, and renders life coaching services to clients of all backgrounds. 

Fun Facts: 

 Ms. Alexandre spent 5 weeks in Palestine in the middle east in 2015 teaching reading and writing to 4th grade Palestinian students. Ms. Alexandre has traveled to over 15 countries including Egypt, Ghana, Benin, Togo, Israel, Jordan, Jamaica, Bermuda and more.

I am Arthur Morris and I have worked as a middle school STEAM educator for the past five years. I also serve as the Program Director for a Rites of Passage program at a Brooklyn based non-profit organization. I am a child of two Caribbean immigrants. My mother  worked at the United Nations for nearly 30 years and she exposed me to the importance of learning and appreciating the culture and heritage of others. The encouraged me to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Culture and Deviance Studies. My father was a NYCDOE High School English Teacher for 30 years, and he taught me the importance of education and advocacy. He inspired me to become a teacher, and to start my master’s degree program in Education. I continue to build on this foundation through traveling, volunteer work, community activism and through teaching and serving my students. My passion for learning and service helps me connect with my students, and that increases their determination to be successful at school and in their life. Outside of the classroom, I love anything related to history, film, food, culture or books. 

 

I am Keri Small. I was born in Guyana, but raised in Brooklyn, New York. I received my bachelor’s at New York University, and I am in my 3rd year as a High School Math Teacher. Before becoming a teacher, I tutored middle and high school math students across New York City. I enjoy teaching and tutoring math. I love to witness scholar’s boosts of confidence as they begin to master their new math skills. I look forward to working with you and your scholar(s) through MB Tutoring.
